I agree that generally, mid-morning phone calls earlier in the week are the best time to approach people. Afternoons are usually bad because reporters are on deadline or preparing for the next day. I would add that when you call someone in the media to talk to them you can do yourself and everyone a favor by asking "is this a good time to talk" and "are you on deadline".  Often a conversation that is bad at 4pm is great the next morning at 10am.  Remembering what these people's days look like will help you figure out when they have time for new ideas, when they are busy getting things done, and adjust accordingly.</description>
